Q: There have been so many reports on the news that organic vegetables aren't any better the commercially raised crops. Why should I raise my vegetables organically?

A- Do you really believe anything you hear on the news, whose income is derived from advertisers of processed foods? Organically raised means, no chemicals, no chemical fertilizers, no herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and, best of all, you are going to be building up mother earth, not tearing her down. Naturally raised foods are just plain better for you. Besides, God did not invent chemicals.

Q: Speaking of pesticides, how do you keep the bugs from eating all your crops?

A- There are so many things on the market today deemed safe for organic growers, it's hard to mention them all here. There are ways to deter and manage pests. There is Perthethins, companion planting, ditimasous earth products, soaps, predatory mites, ladybugs, companion flowers… the list is endless. In my book Getting Started In Organic Gardening For Fun And Profit, I will help you figure out the best routes to take. There are also several other books on the market that contain all the information one will ever require for pest management.

Q: I have really poor soil, how can I get it ready for planting?

A- That is one of my very favorite topics. Building soil requires a soil test and knowing what to add. Building the quality of the soil is something that happens over time, not overnight.

Q: How much does it cost to use your services?

A- We offer a wide range of services, everything from general consulting to actual designing and planting. We also offer marketing services to large-scale growers. Our fees are quoted on an individual basis, based on your needs and ability to pay, which translates into a sliding scale of fees.
