Healthful Living Goes Beyond What We Consume
There is no doubt that
a healthy, organic, vegetable diet will help one to feel their
best and lead one towards a long life, full of energy, vitality,
and extended endurance.
But, there is more
to healthful living and longevity then simply consuming the right
goods. Good health and healing are also the result of deep mindful
relaxation. Getting adequate rest, relaxation, and recreation
are essential to over all good health.
Now, in these turbulent
times, what with high gas prices, corporate lay-offs, the wars
in the Middle East, and the news bombarding our minds with a failing
economy, it is vital that we get rest and learn deep relaxation
techniques.
For many Americans,
simply popping a pill or having one last drink before bed might
be the answer. In today’s tips, I will share with you two
alternatives to medicating one’s self and also teach you
two easy lessons for deep relaxation.
Tip 1:
Start with deep breathing
and mindful relaxation. It’s simple to do and only takes
five minutes for a relaxation session to achieve deep mind, body,
and soul relaxation.
Our Healing Occurs
At Our Deepest Level Of Relaxation
Start with one deep
breath though the nose, filling your lungs with as much air as
you can. Slowly exhale and release completely. Repeat.
Now, take three deep
breaths and give your body the verbal instruction to relax. Repeat
the three deep breaths, counting down from 15 to 0. Allow your
body to drift into complete, conscious relaxation. Stay in this
relaxed state for five minutes.
If you should you find
your mind becoming active during the short session, allow whatever
comes up to simply pass through and focus on your breathing.
Tip 2:
Need a Sleep Aid? Try
drinking herbal tea just before bed.
You can buy ready-made
herbal teas. Alternatively, you can do something additionally
relaxing. On your time off from work and the world--grow your
own herbs. Use Valerian, St. Johns Wort, Hops, Chamomile, Spearmint
and Skullcap to make your own herbal tea.
Make your herbal tea
the Ayurvedic way
Using 1/2 oz of each
herb, in a GLASS pot, boil down 1 gallon of fresh pure water along
with the herbs. Once 1/2 of the water and herb mixture boils off,
add back 1/2 gallon of fresh water. Drink two cups and sleep like
a baby.
Feel more relaxation
in growing your own
For the back yard gardener
who wishes to grow their own herbs, buy organic seeds off of the
internet. Just about any soil will grow herbs without the use
of fertilizers. They will grow in sand or clay--they are weeds,
folks. Herbs require a temperature of 60 - 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Water daily until spouts appear, then decrease watering. Harvest
just before flower buds appear. Dry and use.
One extra tip for consumers:
During times of extreme stress and inability to relax, take extra
B vitamins and try a little Cal Mag.
Relax, live long, prosper,
and turn off the TV.
